You should still be able to afford a coffee.
I’m serious.
When people talk about mortgages, the conversation often becomes extreme.
Cut everything.
No eating out. No coffees. No holidays.
That might work for a spreadsheet.
It rarely works for real life.
If your mortgage only works when every small pleasure disappears, the structure is probably too tight.
Good lending leaves space.Space for the things that make life enjoyable like coffee with a friend, dinner out with family, the occasional weekend away.
Those things aren’t financial mistakes. They’re part of a balanced life.
When we talk about borrowing capacity, I’m often less interested in the maximum a bank will approve……and more interested in what repayment still lets you live well.
Because a home should support your lifestyle. Not shrink it.
Confidence and clarity means knowing your finances work with your life, not against it.
And yes — that includes coffee.
